Description

A refreshing and healthful Antioxidant Blueberry-Lemon Green Tea recipe combining the natural goodness of green tea, blueberries, and lemon with a hint of ginger. This chilled beverage is perfect for a revitalizing drink packed with antioxidants and vibrant flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 4 cups water
  • 3 green tea bags

Flavors and Sweeteners

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)

To Serve

  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil the Water: Bring 4 cups of water to a gentle boil in a medium saucepan, then remove from heat to prevent over-extraction.
  2. Steep the Tea: Add 3 green tea bags to the hot water and steep for 3 to 4 minutes to extract flavor without bitterness. Remove the tea bags and let the brewed tea cool slightly.
  3. Prepare Blueberry Puree: In a blender, puree 1 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries until smooth. Optionally strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve to remove skins for a smoother texture.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Stir the blueberry puree into the green tea along with 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup, juice of 1 lemon, 1 teaspoon of lemon zest, and 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger if using.
  5. Chill the Tea: Refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and to chill the beverage thoroughly.
  6. Serve: Pour the chilled tea over ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves before serving for a refreshing presentation.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness to taste by adding more or less honey or maple syrup.
  • For a sparkling version, replace 1 cup of water with sparkling water just before serving.
  • Frozen blueberries can be used in place of fresh with equally delicious results.
