Description

The Aperol Sour is a vibrant and refreshing cocktail that balances the bittersweet flavor of Aperol with the botanical notes of gin, the tartness of lemon juice, and the smooth texture of egg white. This cocktail is perfectly shaken to create a frothy, elegant drink ideal for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquids

  • 1½ ounces Aperol
  • 1 ounce Gin
  • 1 ounce Simple Syrup
  • 1 ounce Lemon Juice
  • 1 ounce Egg White

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients: Add Aperol, gin, simple syrup, lemon juice, and egg white into an empty mason jar. Seal the jar tightly with its lid for a secure shake.
  2. Dry shake: Shake vigorously for 30-60 seconds without ice to emulsify the egg white and integrate all ingredients thoroughly, creating a frothy mixture.
  3. Shake with ice: Remove the lid and fill the jar with ice cubes, then shake the mixture again for 15-30 seconds to chill the cocktail and further dilute it to the perfect balance.
  4. Serve: Remove the ice from the mason jar and strain the cocktail into a small coupe glass to serve.
  5. Garnish: Add a lemon twist to the rim or drop it into the glass as a fragrant and visually appealing finishing touch.

Notes

  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
  • Make sure to shake vigorously in the dry shake step to create a rich frothy head from the egg white.
  • For a vegan alternative, substitute the egg white with aquafaba.
  • Strain carefully to avoid any ice shards in the final pour.
  • The simple syrup can be homemade by dissolving equal parts sugar in hot water and cooling.
