Description

These crispy Chicken Spring Rolls are a delicious Asian appetizer featuring a savory filling of ground chicken, fresh vegetables, and aromatic spices wrapped in thin spring roll wrappers and fried to golden perfection. Perfect for serving as a starter or party snack with dipping sauces.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 pound ground chicken
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Assembly

  • 12 spring roll wrappers
  • Small bowl of water (for sealing)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cook the chicken filling: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground chicken and cook until no longer pink, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add vegetables and sauces: Stir in shredded cabbage, carrots, and chopped green onions. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the vegetables soften slightly. Mix in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil, stirring well to combine all ingredients. Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  3. Assemble the spring rolls: Lay one spring roll wrapper on a clean surface with a corner pointing toward you. Place about 2 tablespoons of the cooled filling near the bottom corner. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides tightly and roll up the wrapper completely. Seal the edge with a bit of water to keep it closed. Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  4. Fry the spring rolls: Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully fry the spring rolls in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve: Serve the hot, crispy chicken spring rolls with your choice of dipping sauces such as sweet chili, soy, or peanut sauce for a delicious appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • You can bake or air-fry the spring rolls for a lighter, less oily alternative.
  • Add thin rice noodles or chopped mushrooms to the filling mix for extra texture and flavor.
  • Serve with dipping sauces like sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or peanut sauce for enhanced taste.
