Description

This Chipotle Grilled Tofu recipe is a smoky and flavorful vegan dish perfect for grilling season. The tofu is marinated in a zesty chipotle and lime mixture, then grilled to perfection, resulting in a dish that’s great for tacos, bowls, or salads.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 14 oz extra-firm tofu (pressed and drained)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Garnish:

  • Chopped fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the tofu: Cut the pressed tofu into 1/2-inch thick slices or cubes.
  2. Make the marinade: In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, chipotle peppers, lime juice, soy sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Marinate the tofu: Place tofu in a dish, pour the marinade over it, and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the grill: Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Grill the tofu: Grill tofu for 3–4 minutes on each side until grill marks appear and edges are slightly crisp.
  6. Garnish and serve: Remove from grill, garnish with cilantro, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Tofu grills best when pressed to remove excess moisture.
  • For extra smoky flavor, grill over charcoal.
  • This tofu is versatile and can be used in tacos, bowls, or salads.
  • You can use smoky barbecue sauce as a chipotle pepper substitute.
