Description

Indulge in a decadent Chocolate Layer Twix Cake featuring moist chocolate cake layers, creamy vanilla frosting, rich caramel and chocolate sauces, and a delightful Twix candy bar crunch topping. Perfect for chocolate lovers seeking a show-stopping dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Cake Ingredients

  • 2 Boxes Triple Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • 1 cup canola oil

Frosting Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsalted butter (softened)
  • 5 cups powdered sugar
  • 4-6 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Toppings

  • 1 bottle caramel sauce
  • 1 bottle chocolate sauce
  • Twix candy bars (quantity as desired for topping, approx. 4-6 bars)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the triple chocolate cake mix, eggs, water, and canola oil. Mix thoroughly until the batter is smooth and uniform, ensuring no lumps remain.
  2. Bake Cake Layers: Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the cake mix boxes. Grease and flour your cake pans. Divide the batter evenly into the pans and bake for approximately 31 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool completely before assembling.
  3. Make Frosting: In a separate bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition. Add heavy whipping cream one tablespoon at a time until the frosting reaches your desired consistency. Stir in vanilla extract and continue to beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Assemble the Cake: Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of frosting over the top. Drizzle caramel sauce over the frosting, then add a layer of chopped Twix candy bars for crunch. Repeat with the second cake layer. Finally, frost the entire outside of the cake evenly with the remaining frosting.
  5. Decorate with Sauces and Twix: Drizzle chocolate sauce artistically over the top of the cake. Garnish with additional Twix candy bars broken into pieces or halved bars arranged around or on top of the cake.
  6. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour to allow the frosting and toppings to set. Bring to room temperature before serving for optimal flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Feel free to use homemade chocolate cake batter if preferred instead of boxed mix.
  • You can adjust the amount of heavy cream in the frosting to make it thicker or thinner.
  • Using room temperature ingredients ensures smooth mixing and a better-textured cake.
  • For a more intense chocolate flavor, add chocolate chips to the batter before baking.
  • Store leftover cake covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
