Ingredients
Scale
Biscuits
- 1 (16 oz) can Grands! flaky biscuits (8 count)
Beef Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- Salt & pepper to taste
Cheese
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
Optional Toppings
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Pickles
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and ensure easy serving.
- Cook Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced yellow onion until translucent. Add the ground beef and cook thoroughly until no pink remains. Drain excess fat and season the beef mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
- Layer Biscuits: Carefully split each biscuit horizontally to create 16 layers. Place half of the biscuit layers to line the bottom of the prepared baking dish evenly.
- Build the Bake: Spread the cooked beef and onion mixture evenly over the bottom biscuit layer. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the beef layer to add richness and flavor.
- Top It Off: Layer the remaining biscuit halves over the cheese layer, covering the entire bake.
- Bake: Place the baking dish uncovered in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve: Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes to set slightly. Optionally, drizzle with ketchup or mustard and serve with pickles for a full cheeseburger experience.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add garlic powder, smoked paprika, or your favorite seasonings to the beef while cooking.
- Use reduced-fat cheese to make the dish a bit lighter.
- Make sure to drain excess fat from the beef to prevent the bake from becoming greasy.
- Letting the bake rest after cooking helps the layers set and makes it easier to slice.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven or microwave.
