Description

Enjoy these delicious Crispy Fried Mushrooms with a flavorful Cool Ranch Dip for a tasty appetizer or party snack. The mushrooms are perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with a creamy and herby dip.

Ingredients

Scale

Mushrooms:

  • 1 pound button or cremini mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 ½ cups panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • vegetable oil for frying

Cool Ranch Dip:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs and buttermilk.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  4. Dip each mushroom into the seasoned flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat 2–3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry mushrooms in batches for 3–4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. To make the dip, stir all ingredients together in a small bowl and chill until ready to serve.
  9. Serve mushrooms hot with ranch dip on the side.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, double-dip the mushrooms by repeating the flour and egg steps before the final breadcrumb coating.
  • You can use an air fryer at 400°F for about 10–12 minutes as a healthier option.
