Ingredients
Scale
Cream Cheese Filling
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Danish Dough
- 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 tablespoon milk
Glaze
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
- Prepare Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Shape Dough: Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll dough onto a clean surface and separate it into 4 rectangles by pressing the seams together firmly to prevent filling leakage during baking.
- Fill and Fold: Spoon a generous dollop of the cream cheese filling into the center of each rectangle. Fold each corner of the dough towards the center over the filling and pinch the edges gently to seal partially, creating a Danish shape.
- Bake: Place the prepared Danishes on the lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the pastry is puffed up and golden brown.
- Make Glaze: While the Danishes are baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and lemon juice (if using) in a small bowl until smooth to create a sweet glaze.
- Glaze and Serve: Once baked, allow the Danishes to cool slightly on a wire rack. Drizzle the prepared glaze over each Danish before serving for an irresistible sweet finish.
Notes
- For a fruity twist, add a spoonful of your favorite fruit preserves underneath the cream cheese filling before folding.
- To achieve extra crispiness and a shiny top, brush the tops of the Danishes with a little beaten egg before baking.
