Ingredients
Scale
Cheesecake Filling
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream (or milk)
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for flavor)
Sandwich and Strawberry Filling
- 8 slices of white or brioche bread (crusts removed, if desired)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter, softened (for spreading on bread)
For Frying and Coating
- 2 cups vegetable oil (or oil for frying)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for coating)
Instructions
- Prepare the Cheesecake Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream. Mix with a hand mixer or whisk until smooth and creamy. Optionally, add cinnamon to enhance flavor.
- Set Aside Filling: Leave the cheesecake filling aside while you prepare the strawberry mixture.
- Prepare the Strawberry Filling: In a small bowl, mix the diced strawberries with granulated sugar. Stir well and let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the strawberries to release their juices.
- Assemble the Sandwiches: Lay out 4 slices of bread and spread a generous amount of the cheesecake filling on each. Then spoon the sugared strawberries evenly on top of the cheesecake spread. Top each with the remaining slices of bread to form sandwiches.
- Butter the Outside: Lightly butter the outsides of each sandwich, spreading it evenly to help achieve a golden crust when frying.
- Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C). Test by dropping a small piece of bread to see if it sizzles.
- Fry the Sandwiches: Carefully place the sandwiches in the hot oil. Fry each side for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Press gently with a spatula to ensure even frying.
- Prepare Cinnamon Sugar Coating: While sandwiches fry, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl to coat the fried sandwiches immediately after frying.
- Coat the Fried Sandwiches: Remove sandwiches from oil and immediately dredge them in the cinnamon sugar mixture for a sweet and crunchy finish.
- Serve: Slice the fried strawberry cheesecake sandwiches into halves or quarters and serve warm. Optionally, top with extra fresh strawberries or whipped cream for added indulgence.
Notes
- Use brioche or white bread for a softer, richer taste; removing crusts can make sandwiches easier to seal and eat.
- Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened for smoother filling consistency.
- If preferred, substitute heavy cream with milk to lighten the filling.
- Monitor oil temperature closely to avoid overly greasy sandwiches.
- Serve immediately for best texture and flavor; leftovers can become soggy.
- Can add a pinch of cinnamon inside the filling or on the strawberry mixture for added depth of flavor.
