Description

Savor the rich, savory flavors of Garlic Butter Steak Bites paired with creamy mashed potatoes in this classic American main course. Tender sirloin cubes are seared to perfection and tossed in a fragrant garlic butter sauce with Worcestershire and fresh parsley, while the mashed russet potatoes are luxuriously smooth with butter, warm milk, and sour cream. A comforting and satisfying meal that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak Bites

  • 1 1/2 pounds sirloin steak, cut into bite-size cubes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Season the steak bites: In a bowl, toss the sirloin steak cubes with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika until evenly coated to infuse them with bold, smoky flavor.
  2. Sear the steak bites: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place half of the steak in a single layer and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until browned and caramelized. Remove to a plate and repeat with the remaining steak cubes.
  3. Prepare the garlic butter sauce: Reduce heat to medium and add 3 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. Once melted, stir in the minced garlic and cook just until fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Toss steak in sauce: Return all the seared steak bites to the skillet. Add Worcestershire sauce and toss everything together to coat the steak evenly. Cook for an additional minute to meld the flavors.
  5. Finish with parsley and remove from heat: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the steak bites to add freshness and color. Remove the skillet from heat and set aside.
  6. Boil potatoes for mash: In a large pot, add peeled and cubed russet potatoes along with salted water. Bring to a boil and cook for 12 to 15 minutes until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
  7. Drain and mash potatoes: Drain the cooked potatoes thoroughly and return them to the pot. Add butter, warm milk, sour cream, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Mash until smooth: Use a potato masher to mash all ingredients until the mixture is creamy and free of lumps, adjusting seasoning if needed.
  9. Serve: Plate the creamy mashed potatoes and spoon the garlic butter steak bites over the top for a hearty, comforting main dish.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add a splash of heavy cream to the mashed potatoes.
  • You can substitute ribeye or New York strip steak for even more tenderness.
  • Add red pepper flakes to the garlic butter sauce for a spicy kick.
