Description

Garlic Butter Steak Bites with Mashed Potato and Green Beans is a delicious and hearty American main course featuring tender sirloin steak cubes seared and tossed in a fragrant garlic butter sauce. Served alongside creamy mashed russet potatoes and sautéed tender-crisp green beans seasoned with garlic powder, this easy stovetop recipe makes a perfect gluten-free dinner for four.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak Bites

  • 1 ½ pounds sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt, to taste

Green Beans

  • 12 ounces green beans, trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook Potatoes: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the peeled and cubed potatoes and cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain well.
  2. Mash Potatoes: Return drained potatoes to the pot or a bowl. Add whole milk, butter, and salt to taste. Mash until smooth and creamy. Set aside and keep warm.
  3. Season Steak: Season the sirloin steak cubes generously with salt and pepper on all sides.
  4. Sear Steak Bites: Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak cubes in a single layer and sear for about 2 minutes per side until browned but not cooked through. Remove steak bites from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Make Garlic Butter Sauce: Reduce heat to medium. In the same skillet, add 4 tablespoons unsalted butter and minced garlic. Stir continuously for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  6. Toss Steak in Garlic Butter: Return steak bites to the skillet and toss well to coat with the garlic butter sauce. Remove from heat and sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the steak bites.
  7. Sauté Green Beans: In a separate skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium heat. Add trimmed green beans and season with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Sauté for 6-8 minutes until green beans are tender-crisp.
  8. Serve: Plate the garlic butter steak bites with a generous scoop of mashed potatoes and a side of sautéed green beans. Enjoy warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of beef broth or Worcestershire sauce to the garlic butter sauce while tossing the steak.
  • Use Yukon Gold potatoes instead of russet for creamier mashed potatoes.
  • Blanch green beans in boiling water for 2 minutes before sautéing if you prefer them more tender.
  • Make sure not to overcrowd the pan when searing steak bites to ensure proper browning.
