It’s designed to provide wholesome nutrition with simple ingredients for your furry friend.
Ingredients
Scale
Grains
- 2 cups brown rice
- 4 cups water (for cooking rice)
Protein
- 2 pounds lean ground chicken
Vegetables
- 2 cups spinach, chopped
- 1 large carrot, shredded (about 1 cup)
- 1 small zucchini, shredded (about 1 cup)
Instructions
- Cook the rice: In a large pot or saucepan, combine 4 cups of water and 2 cups of brown rice. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low or low, cover with a lid, and allow it to simmer for about 45 minutes or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is completely soft.
- Cook the ground chicken: While the rice is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 pounds of lean ground chicken and cook, breaking it apart, until it is no longer pink throughout, approximately 6 to 8 minutes.
- Add vegetables to chicken: To the skillet with cooked chicken, add 2 cups of chopped spinach, 1 large shredded carrot (about 1 cup), and 1 small shredded zucchini (about 1 cup). Cook together until the spinach wilts and the vegetables soften, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Cool chicken and vegetable mixture: Remove the skillet from heat and set the chicken and vegetable mixture aside to cool.
- Combine rice and chicken mixture: Once the rice is cooked and tender, stir it together with the cooled chicken and vegetable mixture until well combined.
- Cool before serving: Allow the prepared dog food to cool completely before serving it to your dog or storing it for later use.
