Description

These Honey Garlic Lemon Pepper Chicken Thighs are a flavorful and juicy dish featuring tender chicken thighs coated in a sweet and tangy honey-garlic sauce with a zesty kick of lemon pepper seasoning. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a satisfying weekend meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • Salt, to taste
  • Cooking oil, as needed
  • 5 slices of lemon

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 teaspoons lemon pepper seasoning
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Lemon pepper seasoning, to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, 3 teaspoons lemon pepper seasoning, and the juice of half a lemon until well combined. Set this sauce aside for later.
  2. Season and Brown the Chicken: Heat cooking oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Pat the chicken thighs dry and season one side generously with salt and lemon pepper seasoning. Place the chicken in the skillet seasoned side down, then season the other side. Sear the chicken until golden brown on both sides and nearly cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side or until about 90% done.
  3. Add Lemons and Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the lemon slices into the skillet. Pour in the prepared honey garlic sauce. Increase heat back to medium until the sauce begins to bubble. Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes while spooning the sauce over the chicken frequently to baste and glaze it.
  4. Finish and Serve: Once the sauce has thickened and the chicken is fully cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F), remove the skillet from heat. Let the sauce cool slightly, spoon additional sauce over the chicken, remove the lemon slices, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Patting the chicken dry before seasoning helps create a better sear.
  • Use skinless chicken thighs for quicker cooking and to keep the dish lean.
  • Adjust lemon pepper seasoning to your preferred level of tanginess and spice.
  • If the sauce is too thick, you can add a splash of water or chicken broth to thin it out during simmering.
  • Serve with steamed rice or vegetables for a complete meal.
