Hot Toddy Ingredients
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- 2 ounces bourbon or whiskey
- 1 black or rooibos tea bag
Instructions
- Boil cinnamon water: In a small saucepan, combine the cinnamon stick and water. Place over medium-high heat and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat to prevent overcooking.
- Steep the tea: Add the black or rooibos tea bag to the hot cinnamon water and let it steep for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors fully.
- Add honey: After steeping, remove the tea bag and stir in the honey until completely dissolved, creating a smooth and sweet base.
- Mix with lemon and bourbon: Pour the juice of half a lemon and 2 ounces of bourbon or whiskey into a large mug. Add the hot tea mixture, garnishing with the cinnamon stick for added aroma and presentation. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey according to taste.
- Using fresh lemon juice is recommended for the best flavor.
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the bourbon and substitute with extra hot tea or apple cider.
- Steeping the tea for the full 5 minutes ensures a strong flavor that balances the bourbon and honey perfectly.
