Scale
Dip Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese (at room temperature)
- 16 oz sour cream
- 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp garlic salt
- ¼ tsp celery salt
- ¼ cup green onions (white and green parts, sliced)
- 12 oz jar marinated artichoke hearts (chopped)
Toppings
- ¼ cup crispy bacon (chopped, for topping; leave off to make vegetarian)
- 1 Tbsp sliced green onions (green part only, for topping)
Serving
- 1 loaf French loaf bread
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep Bread: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the top off the French or Italian bread loaf and hollow out the middle, ensuring the sides and bottom remain thick enough to support the dip.
- Mix Dip Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, garlic salt, and celery salt. Fold in the sliced green onions and chopped marinated artichoke hearts until evenly mixed.
- Fill and Wrap Bread: Spoon the dip mixture into the hollowed-out bread loaf, filling it completely. Place the top bread piece back on, then wrap the entire loaf securely in two layers of aluminum foil. Place on a cookie sheet for stability.
- Bake the Dip: Bake the wrapped bread loaf in the preheated oven for 1 hour. This allows the dip to heat through and meld flavors.
- Garnish and Serve: Carefully remove the bread loaf from the oven, unwrap it, and remove the top of the bread. Garnish the warm dip with the chopped crispy bacon and sliced green onions. Serve immediately with crackers, vegetable sticks, or your favorite dippers.
Notes
- To make a vegetarian version, omit the crispy bacon topping.
- Room temperature cream cheese ensures a smoother dip texture.
- Using marinated artichoke hearts adds extra flavor – drain well before chopping.
- You can prepare the dip mixture ahead, fill the bread, wrap it, and refrigerate until ready to bake.
- Serve warm for the best flavor and creamy consistency.
