Description

Nutella Puff Pastries are a quick and delightful dessert featuring flaky puff pastry filled with rich chocolate hazelnut spread. Perfectly golden and crisp on the outside, these pastries offer a luscious, gooey filling that satisfies any sweet tooth. Ideal for a snack or elegant treat, they are easy to prepare and bake, making them a charming addition to any meal or gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

Filling

  • 1/3 cup Nutella or other chocolate hazelnut spread

Egg Wash

  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (optional, for thinner egg wash)

Finishing

  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Puff Pastry: Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface. Gently roll it out to smooth out any creases and create an even thickness.
  3. Cut Pastry: Cut the puff pastry into 6 equal rectangles using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  4. Add Nutella Filling: Spread about 1 tablespoon of Nutella on one half of each rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges to allow for sealing.
  5. Seal Pastries: Fold the other half of each rectangle over the Nutella side to form a pocket. Press the edges firmly with a fork to seal completely and prevent leakage during baking.
  6. Apply Egg Wash: Mix the beaten egg with milk if desired for a thinner consistency and brush the tops of the folded pastries generously to achieve a glossy, golden finish after baking.
  7. Bake: Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes, or until they are puffed up and golden brown.
  8. Cool and Serve: Let the pastries cool slightly on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, then serve warm or at room temperature for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For added texture and flavor, sprinkle chopped hazelnuts inside the pastries along with Nutella before folding.
  • These pastries are best enjoyed the day they are baked for optimal freshness and puffiness.
  • To reheat leftovers, warm in the oven or air fryer briefly to restore crispness and warmth.
