Description

This Orange Ginger Beef Stir Fry is a vibrant, quick-cooking dish featuring tender sirloin beef and crisp vegetables coated in a flavorful orange-ginger sauce with a hint of honey and a touch of sriracha for heat. Perfect for a weeknight dinner, it pairs beautifully with rice and is garnished with nutty sesame seeds for added texture and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Vegetables

  • 1 pound stir fry cut sirloin beef
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 3 medium carrots, cut into thin matchsticks
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 12 ounces green beans

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup fresh squeezed orange juice (about 2 navel oranges)
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest (about 2 navel oranges)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, grated or minced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, mix together the fresh squeezed orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, grated ginger, honey, and sriracha. Once well combined, slowly stir in the cornstarch until fully incorporated, ensuring no lumps remain.
  2. Heat oil and cook beef. Heat 2 teaspoons of olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the sirloin beef and cook for 3-4 minutes until the beef is browned on all sides.
  3. Add carrots. Add the thinly cut matchstick carrots to the skillet and cook for another 2 minutes, stirring occasionally to begin softening the vegetables.
  4. Add bell pepper and green beans. Incorporate the sliced red bell pepper and green beans into the skillet. Continue cooking for 7-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  5. Incorporate the sauce. Pour the prepared orange ginger sauce over the beef and vegetables. Stir occasionally and cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and evenly coat all ingredients.
  6. Finish and serve. Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the stir fry and serve immediately over steamed rice or your choice of grain.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, increase the sriracha according to your taste preference.
  • Use fresh orange juice and zest for the brightest citrus flavor.
  • To keep vegetables crisp, avoid overcooking; stir fry just until tender-crisp.
  • This recipe pairs well with jasmine or brown rice.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
