Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ lb fresh shaved steak (beef or chicken)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
- 12 Hawaiian rolls
- 12 slices provolone cheese, thinly sliced
Butter Glaze
- ¼ cup butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prepare for assembling the sliders.
- Sauté Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they soften. Then add the green bell peppers and minced garlic, cooking until they become tender and fragrant. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook Steak: In the same skillet, add the shaved steak and cook over medium heat, breaking it up with a wooden spoon until browned. Season it with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, kosher salt, and cracked black pepper. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Prepare Butter Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, dried thyme, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
- Assemble Sliders: Place the bottom halves of the Hawaiian rolls in the prepared baking dish. Layer half of the provolone cheese slices over the rolls, followed by half of the sautéed vegetables. Add all the cooked steak on top, then the remaining provolone cheese and the remaining sautéed vegetables. Top it all with the roll lids. Brush the tops generously with the prepared butter glaze.
- Bake: Bake the assembled sliders in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the tops turn golden brown and the cheese melts completely and becomes bubbly.
- Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven, slice them into individual servings, and serve immediately while hot and delicious.
Notes
- Use freshly shaved steak for the best texture and flavor; thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin works well.
- Substitute provolone with American or mozzarella cheese if desired.
- For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the sautéed vegetables.
- These sliders reheat well in the oven wrapped in foil to maintain moisture.
- Make sure to brush the butter glaze evenly on the tops for a beautifully golden finish.
- Hawaiian rolls contribute a sweet contrast, but other soft rolls can be used as well.
