Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 cup filtered water
- 1/2 cup fresh raspberries
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
Instructions
- Soak Chia Seeds: In a mason jar, add chia seeds to the filtered water. Stir well and let sit for at least 10–30 minutes, or overnight for best texture, allowing the chia seeds to absorb the water and form a gel-like consistency.
- Mash Raspberries: In a small bowl, gently mash the fresh raspberries with a fork to release their juices and natural flavors.
- Add Lemon Juice: Squeeze the juice from half a lemon and add it to the raspberry mixture or directly into the jar with soaked chia seeds.
- Combine Ingredients: Mix the muddled raspberries and lemon juice with the soaked chia seed water, stirring thoroughly to blend all flavors evenly.
- Chill the Drink: Place the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to enhance the flavors and serve chilled.
- Sweeten and Serve: Taste the drink and stir in the optional honey or maple syrup if desired for added sweetness. Shake or stir again before serving as the chia seeds may settle at the bottom.
Notes
- For best texture, soak chia seeds overnight.
- Use fresh, organic raspberries for optimal flavor and nutrition.
- Adjust sweetness to your preference or omit for a naturally tart drink.
- Shake well before drinking to redistribute chia seeds.
- This drink can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
