Ingredients
Scale
Proteins
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
Vegetables
- 2 jalapeños, sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
Sauces and Oils
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp honey
Seasonings and Garnishes
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the oil: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat to prepare for stir-frying.
- Cook the chicken: Add the thinly sliced chicken breasts to the hot skillet, season with salt and pepper, and stir-fry until cooked through, about 5-6 minutes. Then remove the chicken and set aside to keep warm.
- Sauté aromatics: In the same skillet, add sesame oil along with minced garlic and ginger. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant to build flavor.
- Cook vegetables: Add sliced jalapeños, red bell pepper, and broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender but still vibrant.
- Return chicken: Add the cooked chicken back into the skillet with the vegetables, combining all ingredients.
- Add sauces and honey: Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and honey to evenly coat the chicken and vegetables. Toss everything together and heat through for an additional 2 minutes.
- Garnish and serve: Remove from heat, then garnish with optional sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired for extra flavor and texture.
- Serve: Serve the spicy jalapeño chicken stir-fry hot, ideally accompanied by steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Notes
- For less spicy heat, be sure to remove jalapeño seeds before slicing.
- Vegetables can be swapped or added according to preference, such as snap peas or carrots.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt content if desired.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the freshest texture and flavor.
- Leftovers refrigerate well for up to 2 days and reheat quickly in a skillet.
