Description

A quick and flavorful Spicy Tuna Sushi Wrap that combines chilled tuna with a zingy sriracha and soy sauce mix, fresh vegetables, and seasoned rice, all wrapped in a spinach tortilla for a fusion twist on traditional sushi rolls.

Ingredients

Scale

Tuna Mixture

  • 2 cans tuna, chilled
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce, plus more for serving
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha, plus more for taste

Rice Mixture

  • 1/2 cup cooked white rice (basmati or jasmine)
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar

Vegetables and Wraps

  • 1/2 cucumber, cut into matchsticks
  • 1 avocado, thinly sliced
  • 1 large carrot, cut into matchsticks or shredded
  • 4 large spinach wraps

Instructions

  1. Prepare the rice: In a bowl, combine the cooked white rice with rice vinegar and toss to mix well. Cover the bowl and refrigerate it until ready to use to ensure the rice is cool and flavored.
  2. Mix the tuna filling: In a small bowl, thoroughly mix together the chilled tuna, soy sauce, ground ginger, and sriracha. Adjust spiciness by adding more sriracha if desired.
  3. Assemble the wrap: Lay one spinach wrap on a square piece of tin foil. Line the wrap with the chilled rice mixture, the spicy tuna mixture, cucumber matchsticks, avocado slices, and shredded carrot in an even layer. Add extra sriracha for more heat if preferred.
  4. Roll the wrap: Using the tin foil, roll the wrap tightly to secure all ingredients inside. Repeat the process with the remaining wraps.
  5. Serve: Slice the wraps if desired and serve with additional soy sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • The rice should be cooled before assembling to prevent the wrap from becoming soggy.
  • Use fresh and firm vegetables for the best texture.
  • You can substitute spinach wraps with seaweed sheets for a more traditional sushi feel.
  • Adjust sriracha and soy sauce quantities to suit your taste preferences.
  • Wraps can be refrigerated wrapped in foil for up to one day for meal prep.
