Ingredients
Scale
Cheese
- 225 g halloumi cheese, sliced
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
Vegetables & Greens
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mixed salad greens
- 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish (optional)
Other
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Pan. Preheat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat to prepare for cooking the halloumi cheese.
- Cook Halloumi. Add the sliced halloumi cheese to the heated pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until it turns golden brown and crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté Vegetables. In the same pan, add the olive oil and sauté the red bell pepper and red onion for 4-5 minutes until they soften and develop flavor.
- Prepare Tortillas. Lay out the flour tortillas on a work surface and spread 1/2 tablespoon of sweet chili sauce evenly over each one.
- Assemble Wraps. Divide the cooked halloumi, sautéed peppers and onions, mixed salad greens, and sliced cucumber evenly among the four tortillas, placing the fillings in the center.
- Season. Season the fillings with salt and pepper to taste, and add fresh coriander leaves if using, to enhance flavor.
- Fold and Roll. Fold in the sides of each tortilla and then roll them up tightly to form secure wraps.
- Serve. Slice each wrap in half for easier eating, and serve immediately or wrap in foil to take as a packed lunch.
Notes
- You can substitute the flour tortillas with whole wheat or gluten-free tortillas for a healthier or gluten-free option.
- For extra heat, add some sliced fresh chili or a drizzle of hot sauce inside the wraps.
- These wraps are best served fresh but can be wrapped and refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
- Grilling the wraps briefly in the pan after rolling can add extra crispiness if desired.
- If halloumi is not available, a firm cheese like paneer can be used as an alternative.
