Description

A delicious and healthy Teriyaki Turkey Rice Bowl featuring ground turkey, fresh vegetables, and a homemade teriyaki sauce, all served over steamed rice. This quick and easy skillet recipe is perfect for a flavorful weeknight dinner that comes together in just 35 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Low-Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Red Wine Vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar (or less as desired)
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar (or less as desired)
  • 2 teaspoons Minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Warm water

Main Dish

  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup Diced onion
  • 2 tablespoons Minced garlic
  • 1 pound Ground Turkey
  • 1 cup Broccoli (finely chopped)
  • 2 Large carrots (peeled and grated)
  • 2 Green onions (diced, for garnish)
  • 4 cups Cooked white or brown rice

Instructions

  1. Prepare Teriyaki Sauce: In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, water, red wine vinegar, brown sugar, granulated sugar, minced garlic, ground ginger, cornstarch, and warm water until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds to release its aroma.
  3. Cook Ground Turkey: Add the ground turkey to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it is fully browned and no longer pink, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add Vegetables: Stir in the finely chopped broccoli and grated carrots. Continue to sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp, maintaining some crunch.
  5. Simmer with Teriyaki Sauce: Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the turkey and vegetable mixture. Stir well to coat everything evenly and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and meld with the ingredients.
  6. Serve: Spoon the teriyaki turkey mixture over cooked white or brown rice. Garnish with diced green onions for a fresh, vibrant finish.

Notes

  • For a spicier twist, add a teaspoon of chili flakes or sriracha to the teriyaki sauce.
  • Use brown rice for a healthier, higher-fiber option.
  • Feel free to substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or tofu for variation.
  • Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat nicely.
