Description

This Truffled Mushroom Naan Pizza is a quick and delicious fusion recipe combining the comforting flavors of sautéed mushrooms and garlic with creamy Fontina cheese on a soft naan base. Enhanced with fragrant truffle oil and fresh parsley, it makes a perfect gourmet appetizer or light meal that’s ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 2 naans
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil (divided)

Sautéed Mushroom Topping

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 8 ounces white mushrooms, sliced thin
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 dashes Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Cheese and Garnish

  • 1.5 cups grated Fontina cheese
  • Truffle oil, to taste
  • Chopped parsley, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté Aromatics and Mushrooms: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chopped onion and sauté for 5 minutes until softened. Stir in the sliced mushrooms, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Continue cooking for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms release their liquid and everything is tender.
  2. Prepare Broiler: While the mushrooms cook, preheat your oven’s broiler to high and position the oven rack in the upper third section to ensure even broiling.
  3. Assemble Naan Pizzas: Place the naans on a non-stick baking sheet. Drizzle each naan with 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Evenly spread the mushroom mixture on top of each naan, then generously cover with grated Fontina cheese.
  4. Broil the Pizzas: Place the baking sheet under the broiler and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, or until the cheese has melted thoroughly and is bubbly and golden around the edges.
  5. Finish and Serve: Remove the naan pizzas from the oven. Drizzle each with truffle oil to taste and garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use fresh mushrooms for the best flavor and texture.
  • If you don’t have Fontina cheese, mozzarella or provolone can be good substitutes.
  • Adjust the amount of truffle oil according to your preference; a little goes a long way.
  • Broiling times may vary depending on your oven, so watch carefully to prevent burning.
  • You can double the recipe easily to serve more people.
