Description

Warm Cinnamon Crescent Twists are a delightful and easy-to-make pastry perfect for breakfast or dessert. These twists combine flaky crescent roll dough with a buttery cinnamon sugar filling, baked to golden perfection and drizzled with a sweet glaze. They offer a comforting, warm treat that’s quick to prepare and sure to impress.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough and Filling

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Glaze

  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 teaspoons milk

Other

  • Parchment paper or nonstick spray for baking

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Crescent Dough: Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll dough and separate it into 4 rectangles by pressing the perforations together to seal.
  3. Make Cinnamon Sugar Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon evenly.
  4. Brush Dough with Butter and Add Cinnamon Sugar: Brush each rectangle generously with melted butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top.
  5. Fold and Slice: Fold each rectangle in half lengthwise and gently press to seal the edges. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice each folded rectangle into 3 strips, making a total of 12 strips.
  6. Twist and Arrange on Baking Sheet: Twist each strip several times to create a spiral effect and place them spaced on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake: Bake the twists in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until they turn golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Prepare the Glaze: While the twists are baking, mix the powdered sugar and 1 to 2 teaspoons of milk in a small bowl to create a smooth glaze. Add vanilla extract if desired for extra flavor.
  9. Drizzle and Serve: Once the twists are warm from the oven, drizzle the glaze over them. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Add a dash of nutmeg to the cinnamon sugar mixture for extra warmth and depth of flavor.
  • These twists are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
  • To reheat, warm in a low oven for a few minutes to regain freshness.
